CONTROLLER

Job Summary:

The Controller will oversee the accounting functions of the organization, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. This position will manage 3-4 staff accountants and be responsible for providing primarily financial information about all company activities to assist management, shareholders, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company’s future.

CPA certification is preferred. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, monthly close process and related preparation of internal and external monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain Finance business systems ensuring systems integrity, uptime, data accuracy and business functionality
  • Oversee corporate treasury management including comprehensive weekly cash forecasting and reporting to senior management and lenders
  • Maintain customer billings and collections to ensure the accurate and timely management of accounts receivable and cash receipts application
  • All disbursements ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee and contractor expense reports, payroll processing and corporate payroll tax compliance
  • Prepare and maintain all compliance reporting and inquiries with lenders
  • Annual financial audits including any tax audits for all federal, state and local jurisdictions
  • Ensure corporate federal and state income and sales / use tax compliance is accurate and manage timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes 
  • Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial reporting and analysis requirements
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports for Board of Directors, lenders and senior management
  • Collaboration with co-workers, management, clients and others in a courteous and professional manner
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.

  • Provide effective follow up and follow through regarding individual and team performance
 

Skills/Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and application thereof
  • Very strong ERP systems knowledge; Microsoft Dynamics (GP and/or 365) experience a major plus
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications as well as competence in leveraging analytics software (e.g. PowerBI)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM as well as project management tools
  • Ability to reduce issues to core elements, and develop solutions using problem solving and analytical skills
  • Enhance collaborative culture using effective communication and management skills
  • Effectively communicate financial topics to non-financial people
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities, consistently meet deadlines, and champion change
 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience
  • CPA certification, highly desired.
  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience
  • Accounting experience in the construction and manufacturing industry preferred
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
